1.27. 2020 Evening Prayer Monday

I falter where I firmly trod,

And falling with my weight of care

            Upon the great world’s altar-stairs

That slope thro’ darkness up to God,

I stretch lame hands of faith, and grope….

Eternal God, grant me, I pray Thee, a clearer vision of Thy truth, a greater faith in Thy power, and a more confident assurance of Thy love.

When the dark way seems dark before me, grant me grace to walk trustingly:

When the distance is clouded, let me rejoice that at least the next step it plain;

When what Thou art is most hidden from my eyes, let me still hold fast to what Thou          dost command:

What I lack in faith let me repay in love.

O infinite God, I thank Thee for Christ, Thou Light of Light,

I thank Thee that in seeing Christ we see Thee,

And if still I cannot find Thee, let me confess my sins and seek Thy pardon in Jesus Christ my Lord.    Amen

1.27. 2020 Morning Prayer

MONDAY

Grant, O most gracious God, that I may carry with me through this day’s life the remembrance of the sufferings and death of Jesus Christ my Lord.

For His readiness to suffer for our sakes:

For the redemptive passion that filled His heart;

For the power of His Cross in the history of the world since He came:

For the noble army of martyrs and for all who are willing to die that others may live:

For all suffering freely chosen for noble ends, for pain bravely endured, for temporal          sorrows that have been used for building up of eternal joys:

I praise and bless Thy holy name.

Give me a willing heart to bear the burdens of others. Give me a believing heart to cast all burdens upon Thee.

Glory be to Thee, O Father, and to Thee, O Christ, and to Thee, O Holy Spirit, and for ever and ever.                                     Amen.

1.25. 2020 Evening Prayer

In my heart’s most secret chambers You are waiting to meet and speak to me, freely offering me Your fellowship in spite of all my failures. I open myself to this peace of mind. I leave behind all my fretfulness, all unworthy desires, all thoughts of malice toward others, and all hesitancy in surrendering my will to do Yours.

In Your will, O Lord, is  my peace.

In Your love is my rest.

In Your service is my joy.

You are all my heart’s desire.

Whom have I have in heaven but you?

There is no other I desire on earth.

In Your presence, O God, I think not only of myself, but also of theirs.

Be near to all of us this night and graciously keep watch over our souls.

Hear my prayer for the sake of Christ.

1.25. 2020 Morning Prayer

Lord of my life, I kneel before you this day.

Today is full of possibilities: it hopes for new beginnings. Please help me, Father, to not break the promises of yesterday. Let me see no person in distress and pass them by.

Where my deeds can help make this world a better place for men to live in, where my words can cheer a despondent heart or brace a weak will, where prayer can serve God’s Kingdom, there let me do and speak and pray.

Lord,
give me courtesy:
give me meekness:
give me longsuffering:
give me charity :
give me chastity:
give me the sincerity of speech:
give me diligence in my tasks:

Grant me the grace to be worthy of Your name.

1.24. 2020 Morning Prayer

Tim Cameron's avatarTim Cameron Writings

Lord, help me to not move forward today without your blessing. Don’t let the freshness of this morning, good health, or prosperity deceive me into relying on my flesh. Help me to depend on You–entirely.

Lord, I return to all You have given to me. Work today through my hands, O Lord. Use these weak instruments. Let Your purposes be accomplished today through me. But, let others see You, not me.

I pray for the poor this morning. I cry out to You to give them grace.

Fill up my hours today with Your deeds, unselfish love everywhere I go. Let all be to Your praise and glory.

Evening Prayer 1.23. 2020

Lord, you are from everlasting to everlasting. I rejoice to know that all night I will be under your watchful eye.

Give me deep, refreshing sleep.
Give me freedom from restless dreams.
Give me control of my thoughts when I wake in the night hours.
Give me grace, if I like awake, to think on You.

Psalms 63:
6 On my bed I remember You;
I think of You through the watches of the night.
7 Because You are my help,
I sing in the shadow of Your wings.
8 I cling to you;
Your right hand upholds me.

Morning Prayer 1.23. 2020

Jesus, let my first thought today be of You. Let my first impulse be to worship You. Let the first words out of my mouth speak Your name. And let the first action I take today be to to kneel in prayer.

Keep me pure in thought today.

Keep me truthful in speech.

Keep me faithful in work.

Keep me humble in my own estimation.

Keep me honorable in all dealings.

Keep loyal.

Keep me mindful of being your child.

Alone with God

“If you stay alone with God long enough, He will speak to you. And He will usually begin by speaking to you about you.” Tim C.

Here’s what I know about spending time alone with God: Most of us will regret how we used our time–but, I can promise you, not a single one of us will begrudge any moment we spent alone with God.

The Bible speaks of us about a fellowship and love with Christ and spending time in His presence. Everything depends on this.

This is what actually happened

The Greeks and Romans, Jews and heathen, hated each other. Between all the nations of the world there was hardly a thought of love. The very idea of self-sacrifice was a strange one. When unbelievers saw that Christians from different nations, under the powerful working of the Holy Spirit, loved one another even to the point of self-sacrifice in times of need—they were amazed. They said: “Behold how these people love one another!”

We obviously undervalue unity and the power of believers praying in unity. Unity was Jesus’s plan. It was His strategy to reach the lost. It was His plan to convince the world that He was the Son of God. He didn’t have a backup proposal or a plan B. It was all or nothing. John 17:21 says, “ . . . that they may all be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You. May they also be one in Us, that the world may believe that You have sent Me.” The plan was simple—we show to others the love that was in God toward Christ and that Christ showed to us, and the world will be overwhelmed with the authenticity of Christianity.

How you doing on showing the love of God to Christians and others?
